SEE THE WORK OF Itzik Benshalom
"In these modern times, communication through elecronic media often denies basic himan emotions-Love, Anger, Understanding. I see my work as an attempt to remind people of a more pirmal form of humanism. In a sense, I see a need to redefine emotion."
Itzik Benshalom was born in 1945 in Hadera Israel where he currenty lives with his wife and children. In 1967 Itzik Benshalom set up a foundry where he specialized in the 4000 years old "Lost Wax" method of casting sculpture.
He had worked in the foundry for fifteen years, always working with other artists, following their concept designs. Then one day he started to sketch a design he had been carrying around in his head for over a year. His excitement grew, his intensity grew, his hoy grew and he knew he was a sculptor. The day he stopped doing other people's work and cast his first bronze, is the day his life began.
Itzik Benshalom's work is his passion. He's involved with his art every step along the way in casting. He has a passion for life and for what makes the world go round: relationships, man and woman, family; this is what his work is about, his work fows as life flows.
Benshalom is one of Israel's most reknown sculptors with work all over the world. In America he has shown in several museums, including the Boca Rotan Museum, the Flint Michigan Art Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art and his work appears in many American Collections.
